Is this your weekday?
Wake up, and sit at a table to eat breakfast
Get in your car and sit in traffic on your way to work
Get to work and sit at your desk
Go to lunch and sit at a table to eat
Get back in your car and sit in traffic on your way home
Get home and sit at the dinner table
After dinner sit in a chair on your phone, computer or watching TV
Are you seeing where I'm going with this?
When we do the same things over time, our bodies adapt to those positions. Some say "sitting is the new smoking". Besides the amount of inactivity, it can take it's toll on the musculature of the body.
We become front side dominant, the back muscles become non-existent and no longer support our posture.
Then the weekend comes and you want to go play golf...good luck!
All those muscles that are supposed to hold you upright and support your joints in rotation are still sleeping from not being activated all week.
So it makes it really hard to make a full, consistent turn. That is when frustration sets in, and the aches and pains start to creep in.
There is something you can do about it.
I shot this short video to give you 3 simple stretches to do throughout your day. You can do them multiple times in the morning , at the office and at home. Doing them before you play golf isn't a bad idea either.
Give these a try for about a week and see if you don't feel better. I'll bet you stand-up with better posture and are more cognoscente of how much sitting you actually do all day.
Let me know how it goes in the comments below.
